The Challenge


Since 2007, bladesmith Marco Guldimann has been combining his passion for craftsmanship and his experience as a professional chef to create kitchen knives of exceptional quality. For the knife handles and sheaths, he spent a long time searching for a wood of Swiss origin that was clearly recognizable as a natural product, hard, moisture-resistant, and durable.

The Solution


We convinced Marco Guldimann to use wood from Switzerland that had been densified using our special technology for his knives. Local walnut wood, which takes on an elegant dark brown color due to the high temperatures used in the densification process, became Marco Guldimann's preferred solution.

The Result


Marco Guldimann has been using Swiss Wood Solutions' high-performance material for selected projects since 2019. He particularly appreciates the fact that, unlike other tropical wood alternatives, Swiss Wood Solutions' woods do not contain any plastics, which also makes them his first choice from an ecological point of view. 
The beauty of the handles and sheaths made from our woods and their clearly recognizable wood structure, even after compression, also generate enthusiasm among the customers of Guldimann kitchen knives.
