The Challenge


Simon Jacomet has been building his own skis in his workshop since 2019: innovation and a passion for skiing and craftsmanship are his main drivers. He also cares deeply about the responsible use of resources. That's why he was looking for a material that would allow him to build skis in such a way that they could be reused or recycled.

The Solution


Swiss Wood Solutions proposed replacing the aluminum alloy normally used for the top layer of a ski with densified wood.
In addition, Swiss Wood Solutions and Jacomet Ski collaborated with a joint supplier specialized in bio-based adhesive films to develop a new thermoplastic adhesive bond.

The Result


The new dai! ski by Simon Jacomet, with a top layer made of densified wood from Swiss Wood Solutions that is two to three times stiffer than conventional aluminum alloy, impresses with its direct power transmission and harmonious skiing experience.
Thanks to the new thermoplastic adhesive film bond, skis with tops made of densified wood from Swiss Wood Solutions, as well as skis with conventional aluminum alloy top layers, can now be efficiently and modularly reused or recycled for the first time.  
This innovation from Jacomet Ski was honored with the Brandnew Award in the Sustainability category at ISPO 2025.
